Frequently asked questions
General
I understand that sometimes you're in a rush, not in the state of mind to worry about the details, or you're just tired of thinking about your problem or project. You just want it done. If this is you, or if you are confused by the questions, feel free to send me an email instead. You can find a link at the bottom of this page.
You're also free to leave most of the categories in the form blank if you choose. However, this process is designed so that the more specific you are on the front end, the faster and more efficient I can be on the job site - which translates to more of your to-do list crossed off per visit and a better value overall.
I've done moving and handyman work for a long time, and so much misunderstanding and inefficiency can arise from not having the right questions answered before showing up to work. This form is my effort to help us begin on the right foot with clear communication, saving us both time and minimizing surprises for everyone.
With that said, the Request Services form is mainly for first time clients or complicated projects. The majority of returning clients simply send me a text with pictures, their to-do list, and when they want it done, and I put them on my schedule. After this first time, it will be as simple as that.
In general, I focus on helping people in the San Fernando, Crescenta, (Western) San Gabriel, and Santa Clarita Valleys. I can only be at one place at a time, and keeping commuting distances low allows me to serve more clients in a day and still be home in time for dinner with my family.
I don't rule out exceptions, however. Just know that beyond certain distances and for some areas there may be a higher service call charge to serve you, or I may have a more limited time window. Feel free to reach out with a Service Request or General Inquiry email and I'll be happy to confirm whether I can make it out to your location, or under what circumstances I can help you.
Regarding moving jobs, only ONE address (origin or destination) needs to be within my service area. It is not unusual for apartment, garage, or storage unit moves to have multiple stops or a destination in an adjacent county. And as with most moving companies, you should expect to be charged for the round trip- not just one way- because I do have to come back when the vehicle is unloaded.
In short, no- although I encourage any client considering hiring me for larger projects to take advantage of free estimates offered by other companies if you want a ballpark estimate to compare to.
Estimating is the most complex and difficult work I do. If you have questions or want recommendations, I'm happy to text you back if it helps you make decisions. But any time I spend researching products you are interested in, measuring or inspecting on the job site, creating sketches, or compiling materials lists to get a specific estimate will be billed at my regular rate.
You may decide after budgeting, thinking it over, and getting some feedback to reconsider your project's priority on your to-do list. That's OK and can be helpful to learn. I find it's often best to get to know each other first by doing smaller tasks for you that don't require an estimate.
I am a company of one, but I have a network of independent handymen and movers that I have personally worked with and whose competency, character, and work ethic I can vouch for. I often team up with these pros when needed. With a few days notice, I can usually arrange to bring one or more helpers from this network.
If for any reason I am unavailable to work on the day and time, or at the location that you request, I will be happy to refer you to one of them if I can.
